CanPowerSkate is geared towards skaters who have passed the Stage 2 Canskate Badge - skaters have basic forward and backward skating skills (they must be able to skate the length of the rink using alternate strides) and are able to stop on command without use of the boards. For safety reasons participants are required to wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and full equipment (sticks not required). The coach to skater ratio is 1:10 to ensure that players registered, get the maximum attention and value for their session.

What are the benefits of Participating in CanPowerSkate?

CanPower builds on basic skating skills already established in either the CanSkate Program or through playing hockey. The program teaches the fundamentals of skating in a progressive and sequential manner and fills in the gaps that are needed to become a valuable player. We focus on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance which compliments those athletes playing hockey or ringette. Skills are broken down to the fundamentals so that proper skating technique and good habits are established.
